St. Teresa of Avila - An introduction to the Life and Teaching of this great Saint and Doctor of the Church by Fr. Robert Altier (5 CD's) Suggested donation $15.00

St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) is one of the most important and influential figures in the history of the Church, yet she remains relatively unknown to most Catholics. A fearless reformer of the Carmelite Order, she is the true Mistress of the Spiritual Life and a great teacher for all people of the ways of prayer and love of God. The series begins with two talks which are biographical in nature, discussing the life and the work of St. Teresa. These are followed by a consideration of the virtues, the humanity of Christ and contemplation, three of the major themes in the Saint's writings. A brief review of the minor works of St. Teresa is then provided followed by an overview of her three greatest works: The Book of Her Life, The Way of perfection, and The Interior Castles. The 9 talks of 30-40 minutes each were presented as homilies at a Novena of Masses between the dates of October 7, 2014 and October 15, the Feast of St. Teresa, at the Carmelite Monastery in Brooklyn, New York.

Review...
"This series is amazing! Father has skillfully woven the historical background of St Teresa, her life, her writings and the key elements of Teresian spirituality. It is packed with practical and insightful suggestions for those who want to take up the spiritual life. Examples of topics covered are: how to choose a spiritual director, how to pray in aridity, and Teresa's approach to developing the virtues."
